Problem to clarity
Patent systems speak in procedures. Applicants think in questions.
FER issued
What does this mean?
Inventive step objection
Is my patent rejected?
FER response filed
Do I need to do anything now?
Why this matters now
India's patent ecosystem is growing.
More Indian inventors, researchers, startups and institutions are entering the patent system. Access to the official record matters — but so does understanding what that record means for an individual application.

Patent applications filed in India in 2024–25
61.79%

PatentPath does not claim that every patent applicant needs additional assistance. These figures show the scale and growth of the ecosystem in which applicant comprehension matters.
Designed for applicants who understand their invention, but may not understand patent procedure.
How PatentPath helps
Clear guidance without pretending to be the official record
Know where you are
See your application as a clear journey instead of isolated status codes.
Understand official communication
Turn dense patent terminology into structured plain-language explanations.
Know what happens next
Separate information from action so you can immediately see whether something needs attention.
More than finding patent information
General patent information can explain what an FER is. PatentPath is designed to explain what a communication means in the context of what has already happened in a particular application.
GENERAL INFORMATION
What is a First Examination Report?
PATENTPATH
This application has received a First Examination Report, no response is currently recorded, and PatentPath is therefore showing applicant attention required.
PatentPath follows the journey, not just the document.
Working with official systems
Built around existing public infrastructure.
PatentPath does not replace Intellectual Property India. It connects citizen understanding to the authoritative services already responsible for patent records and transactions.
PatentPath explains. Official records remain authoritative.
From status to citizen understanding
Navigate by your situation, not by service name.

PATENTPATH
What is happening with my application?
Understand → Verify → Continue
Government infrastructure serves many different functions. PatentPath reorganizes access around the context of one citizen journey, reducing navigation decisions without replacing official services.
Government-system integrations are not implemented in this prototype.
About this prototype
PatentPath is an independent hackathon prototype that translates synthetic patent journey data into plain-language explanations for first-time applicants, inventors, and startup teams.
Why doesn't PatentPath automatically fetch every application?
Some official patent services use verification mechanisms such as CAPTCHA or require direct interaction with government systems. PatentPath does not bypass those controls. Where direct integration is not available, it guides the citizen to the appropriate authoritative service.
